Contact & About The Scrap Album
Thank you for spending time with The Scrap Album.
This website has grown from a long-standing personal collection of printed ephemera — modest in scale, perhaps, but rich in the stories that such survivals carry.
Handbills, greetings cards, valentines, calendars, scraps and printed trifles were never intended to last. Yet in their design, their wording, and even their wear, they preserve something of the social habits, commercial ingenuity and everyday pleasures of earlier generations.
The aim of The Scrap Album is not simply to display objects, but to explore the narratives behind them — to show how small pieces of paper can illuminate larger histories. It seeks to demonstrate how a private collection, thoughtfully assembled and carefully studied, can inform, delight and occasionally surprise.
Each addition to the collection opens another small window onto the past, and the process of discovery — and rediscovery — continues.
If something here has sparked a memory, answered a question, or prompted one of your own, I would be very pleased to hear from you. Comments, enquiries, and fellow enthusiasts are always welcome.
